AGED CARE AND ELDER SUPPORT

Supporting Elders to stay strong, independent and connected

Our Elders hold knowledge, strength and leadership that guides our communities.

Girudala provides aged care supports that help Elders live safely at home, stay connected to Country, and continue doing the things that matter most.  We work gently, respectfully and in partnership with families.

Girudala’s aged care programs help our Elders stay independent and connected while living at home.  We believe in:

Each person is different. We take the time to listen and tailor support to the person, not just the program.

Eligibility is based on Australian Government aged care programs. If you are unsure, we can help guide you through the process.


To apply for service - you first need to contact: 


My Aged Care Team 

Phone:  1800 200 422 or visit 

Website:  www.myagedcare.gov.au 


They will put you in touch with the Regional Assessment Team to work out what services you require. Then you can nominate Girudala to be your service provider if you wish.  

How to get started

Support may include

  1. Phone or go to the website of the My Aged Care Team
  2. Complete Assessment with the Regional Team
  3. Understand the services you require
  4. Get in touch with Girudala and we can talk about what support might be right for you or your family member

Support may include

  • Domestic assistance - basic duties like vacuuming, mopping, toilet and bathroom cleaning etc
  • Social support (individual and group) - visiting clients in their homes for a cuppa and a yarn, helping with filling in forms, bringing clients together for activities twice a week including arts and crafts, picnics and pamper days
  • Home maintenance - basic mowing and whipper snipping 
  • Transport - driving clients to appointments, to pay bills and do grocery shopping

To be eligible for this program through Girudala as your service provider, you will be a Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person who is frail, or an older person (over the age of 50) who needs support to remain living independently at home.

Please note this is a fee-for-service program - your fees will be determined by what services you require and how often you access our services.
